Our Commitment to your Privacy
Our Commitment to your Privacy:
On 25th May 2018 new EU legislation will come into force which governs how and why organisations store personal data and we would like to share with you how we store and handle the data we hold. (GDPR). This data will typically consist of names, addresses and contact details but may also include, for example, job sheets, reports or correspondence detailing any contact we have had with you, or perhaps photographs taken (with your permission) either during or upon completion of your work.
Why we collect and hold your data
In order to fulfil our contract with you it is necessary to keep some personal data, such as those illustrated above. We will also need to hold information about your property and the work you are having done. Please be assured we treat your data with the utmost care and take appropriate steps to protect it.
We will hold your data for as long as necessary to complete our contractual obligations with regards the guarantee period for your work, or for as long as legally required to comply with statutory requirements should this be longer than the guarantee period. Should you receive a quotation from us but decide not to proceed with the work, we shall hold your details for a period of 24 months as we recognise that, for some, preparing to commit to major building work can take time.
When we’ll share your data
We may sometimes need to share your data with third parties in order to complete our contract with you. This may include any subcontractors who may work with us on your project, your local council for an application for building regulations or planning permission, or in order to register an installation with FENSA, HETAS or the Consumer Protection Association. They all have a duty to maintain your data securely and to use it only for the purpose it was given. We will never share your data unless there is a valid reason to do so for the completion of your project and we will detail within your ‘Agreement of Works’ the third parties with whom your data needs to be shared.
Know your rights
You have many rights regarding your personal data, including seeing what data we hold, and updating your information. We have a Privacy Notice and a Data Protection Policy which explain in detail how we deal with the data we hold. If you would like to access these documents or find out more, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone on 01531 631965.
